Senate District 30 includes Culver City, Ladera Heights, and Westmont and the Crenshaw, Downtown, and Florence neighborhoods of Los Angeles

SACRAMENTO, CA – The California Democratic Party (CADEM) today announced a Special Election Endorsing Caucus (Caucus) for Senate District 30 (SD-30). The Caucus, made up of the 2019 – 2021 Democratic State Central Committee (DSCC), will vote to endorse a candidate to replace Senator Holly Mitchell who was recently sworn-in to the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors.

“Senator Holly J. Mitchell has been a trailblazer for California and the California Democratic Party,” said Rusty Hicks, Chair of CADEM. “During her time serving in the Legislature, Sen. Mitchell was a leader in creating solutions to address inequities in our communities. Looking forward, CADEM is thrilled to work with Democrats in the district to ensure that there is a fair and transparent endorsement process,” continued Hicks.

Working with the Caucus, CADEM will mail endorsement ballots to members in SD-30 this month. Members must submit their vote-by-mail ballot through email to sd30special@cadem.org or by mailing the ballot to the Regional Director at P.O. Box 640, Van Nuys, CA 91408. Ballots should be received by 5 p.m. on Monday, January 4, 2021. Proxy voting will not be allowed.

The endorsement meeting will take place on January 4 at 5 p.m. before the special primary election on March 2. If no candidate wins more than half the general vote during the primary election, a special runoff election will be held on May 4.
