California Democratic Party Names Chris Myers as Executive Director

SACRAMENTO, CA – Today, the California Democratic Party (CDP) announced the return of Chris Masami Myers as Executive Director.

Myers previously served as CDP Executive Director from 2015-2017 under Chairman John Burton. Myers also served the party in various senior staff roles since 1998, including research director and managing director.

“I am pleased that Chris has agreed to return as Executive Director,” said Alexandra “Alex” Gallardo Rooker, CDP’s acting chair. “Chris was an outstanding executive director for the CDP and will evaluate the Party’s operational needs and put together a team that will get us through the election of a new chair in May.”

Myers will work with the CDP staff in preparing for the upcoming ADEM elections in January, work that has continued to progress smoothly despite the distractions surrounding leadership changes. He will also be laying the groundwork for the CDP’s second convention of 2019, which will take place in November. This will be the first time the party has had two major conventions in a calendar year. The November CDP Convention is a nominating convention that must occur as a result of California historic early primary election in March of 2020.

The CDP has also retained Roger Salazar to handle communications and serve as a spokesman on behalf of the party. Salazar previously handled CDP’s communications during the chairmanship of Sen. Art Torres (ret.).
