CADEM Announces Assembly District 17 Special Election Endorsement Caucus Meeting

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – The California Democratic Party (CADEM) announced Friday a Special Election Endorsing Caucus (Caucus) for Assembly District 17 (AD-17). The Caucus, made up of the 2021-2023 Democratic State Central Committee (DSCC), will vote to endorse a candidate for the seat vacated by David Chiu who was recently sworn-in as San Francisco’s first Asian American City Attorney on November 1.

Working with the Endorsing Caucus, CADEM will email or mail (upon request only) endorsement ballots to eligible voting DSCC delegate members in AD-17 this month. Members must submit their electronic ballot through email to [email protected] or by mailing the ballot to the Regional Director by 5:15 p.m. on Saturday, December 11, 2021. Proxy voting will not be allowed.

The endorsement meeting will take place on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 5 p.m. before the special primary election on Tuesday, February 15, 2022. If no candidate wins more than half the general vote during the primary election, a special election general endorsing caucus will be held on Monday, February 21, 2022 and a special runoff election will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2022.
