NO CUTS TO MEDICAID
Republicans in Congress want to give $1.5 TRILLION in tax breaks to billionaires and corporations over the next decade. To pay for it they are targeting $880 BILLION worth of cuts from Medicaid which in California funds MediCal.
Over 15 million Californians rely on Medicaid funding for their healthcare – that’s 1 of every 3 people. Medicaid pays for healthcare for children, people with disabilities, seniors, and workers who don’t get health coverage through their employers.
Even people who have private insurance will feel the impact of these devastating cuts – as hospitals and nursing homes close, emergency rooms become more crowded, and the price of health care goes up.
Nationally we need to get three Republican Congressional Members to vote NO on any cuts to Medicaid to stop the bill from passing. In California we have 4 districts we’re targeting:

In just his first three months in office, Congressman George Whitesides has:
- Introduced his first standalone bill, the Chiquita Canyon Tax Relief Act, to ensure that residents in Val Verde, Castaic, and the Santa Clarita Valley are not unfairly taxed on the much-needed assistance they receive from the Chiquita Canyon Landfill.
- Stood against outrageous cuts to programs like Medicaid and Social Security, which would harm hundreds of thousands of Rep. Whitesides’ constituents, and millions of Americans across the country.
- Opposed a deeply harmful budget bill that could rip $25 million away from California’s 27th District, including from law enforcement agencies and critical infrastructure projects.
- Cosponsored the introduction of the PRO Act, protecting workers’ rights, and led multiple letters to the administration defending union employees and federal workers.
- Became a national leader on our wildfire crisis and potential solutions, becoming a key public voice during the LA firestorms.
- Joined pragmatic caucuses working to advance important legislation, including the Military Veterans Caucus, the Bipartisan Wildfire Caucus, the Reproductive Freedom Caucus, and the New Democratic Coalition.

- Rep. Tran has cosponsored more than 30 bills supporting Medicare/Medicaid environmental, natural disasters, and fighting crime.
- Derek introduced his first bill, The Protect Veteran Jobs Act, seeking reinstatement eligibility for veteran Federal employees.
- Tran cosigned a letter to Congressional leaders urging them to support California’s request for FEMA funding in response to the LA County fires.
- Rep. Tran has returned over $55,000 to constituents through his constituent services program to restore federal benefits and secure refunds.
- Rep. Tran cosponsored a bill to award a Gold Medal for Fred Korematsu, a civil rights activist who fought against the incarceration of Japanese American during World War Two.
- Rep. Tran held a telephone town hall with over 6,000 constituents in attendance to hear and address their concerns.
- Congressman Derek Tran sent a letter to Secretary of State Rubio requesting immediate assistance to secure the release of Le Huu Minh Tuan – a Vietnamese journalist unjustly detained by the Vietnamese government.
- Rep. Tran leads the Plain Language in Contracting Act, passed the Small Business Committee. The bill aims to ensure that federal contracting opportunities are written in plain language, making it easier for small businesses to secure government contracts.
- Rep. Tran leads the Connecting Small Businesses with Career and Technical Education Graduates Act which will help small business owners fill gaps in their workforce by connecting them with graduates of vocational programs.
- Rep. Tran helped pass the bipartisan Small Business Advocacy Improvements Act, which makes clear that the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Office of Advocacy has the authority to examine international economic data, and represent small business interests in international discussions, particularly in trade negotiations.

Member Update
- Congressman Min has introduced two bills which would rein in Elon Musk and DOGE and protect California’s coastal resilience.
- Congressman Min has also cosponsored over 38 bills, including legislation to support veterans, stand up for the Asian American community, and prevent gun violence.
- Dave was appointed by House leadership to serve on the Litigation and Rapid Response Taskforce to provide oversight into DOGE and the Trump administration. As a former law professor, he works alongside legal experts to find pathways to challenge the Trump administration in court.
- When the Trump administration froze funding for federal programs, Dave held a press conference with community leaders to speak about the harms this would inflict on the Orange County community.
- Dave brought Dr. Eric Ball, an OC pediatrician, as his joint address guest to highlight the devastating consequences of cutting Medicaid for California children and families.
- From appearing on cable news to speaking out outside of the Treasury department, Dave is not afraid to defend the rule of law and stand up to the Trump administration’s lawlessness.
- Dave is responsive to Californians – holding an in-person town hall with over 1,500 constituents and a tele-town hall with over 10,000 constituents. He always shows up for Orange County.
- Dave will always stand up for reproductive freedoms. Dave joined the Reproductive Freedom Caucus and recently toured a PHEC WIC (Special Supplemental Nutrition Programs for Women, Infants, and Children) facility with Planned Parenthood leaders.
- Dave remains committed to lifting up the diverse Asian American community in Orange County. He frequently attends community events, including Lunar New Year celebrations, and has joined in introducing legislation to honor Asian American heritage.
- Dave has held dozens of community events in Orange County, from round tables to visits to local organizations. He always listens to his district to bring their voices to Congress.
