ARCATA, CA – Today Rusty Hicks, Chair of the California Democratic Party, offered praise for President Joe Biden, who announced he would not be running as the Democratic nominee for President of the United States in 2024. Hicks highlighted Biden’s record of success in uplifting working families and vowed that California Democrats would help elect a Democrat to the White House while fighting to take back the U.S. House of Representatives.
“Joe Biden will go down in history as one of our Nation’s greatest Presidents – a statesman who put service before self and protecting our democracy above all else,” said Hicks. “There is no doubt that Joe Biden’s record on uplifting working class Americans is one of the strongest in our Nation’s history. Democrats across the country will be able to run on his record of success as we work to elect a Democratic President and take back the House of Representatives starting right here in California.”
Under President Biden, more than 15 million new jobs were created and new factories and protections for American workers were put in place. Incomes have also risen across every income level.
“Now it is time for Democrats to unite around our common calling – defeating Donald Trump, retaking the House of Representatives and preserving our democracy,” Hicks added. “Whether fighting for reproductive rights, expanding health care for all, repairing the devastating effects of climate change or protecting working and middle class families, the future of our country is at stake in this election.”
