November 4, 2025, Statewide Special Election
The last day to register to vote for the November 4, 2025, Statewide Special Election is October 20, 2025
Vote-by-mail ballots can be returned by mail, at a drop-off location, or your county elections office.
Vote early! We recommend returning your ballot before October 31st to ensure it is postmarked by Election Day, November 4, 2025.
KEY DATES
- Monday, October 6, 2025: Your county elections office will begin mailing ballots.
- Tuesday October 7, 2025: Ballot drop-off locations open
- Monday, October 20, 2025: The last day to register to vote for the November 4, 2025, General Election
- Tuesday, October 21, 2025: period by which Same Day “Provisional” registration begins
- Saturday, October 25, 2025: Vote centers open for early in-person voting in all Voter’s Choice Act counties. Vote-by-mail ballots can be returned by mail, at a drop-off location, or at your county elections office (we recommend returning your ballot before October 31st to ensure it is postmarked by Election Day, November 4, 2025).
- Tuesday, November 4, 2025: CA Statewide Special Election Day, polls close at 8:00pm. Vote-by-mail ballots must be postmarked and mailed before November 4, 2025 (we recommend returning your ballot before October 31st to ensure it is postmarked by Election Day, November 4, 2025).

HOW YOUR VOTE BY MAIL BALLOT WORKS
To register to vote, the person must be age 18 or older 15 days before Election Day. Your registration must be postmarked or submitted electronically no later than October 20, 2025.
- Receive your ballot in the mail.
- Stay informed or call 1-877-321-VOTE (8683) to get help from the CADEM Voter Protection Team!
- Complete ALL required information on the back of the return envelope, including your signature and the date.
- Return your ballot by mail, ensuring the envelope is postmarked or courier-stamped on or before November 4, 2025 (we recommend returning your ballot before October 31st to ensure it is postmarked by Election Day, November 4, 2025) and received by your county elections office no later than November 11, 2025.
Vote-by-mail ballots may also be dropped off at an official ballot drop box before 8pm on Election Day, November 4, 2025. You can find a drop-box near you at caearlyvoting.sos.ca.gov.
