NO CUTS TO MEDICAID
Republicans in Congress want to give $1.5 TRILLION in tax breaks to billionaires and corporations over the next decade. To pay for it they are targeting $880 BILLION worth of cuts from Medicaid which in California funds MediCal.
Over 15 million Californians rely on Medicaid funding for their healthcare – that’s 1 of every 3 people. Medicaid pays for healthcare for children, people with disabilities, seniors, and workers who don’t get health coverage through their employers.
Even people who have private insurance will feel the impact of these devastating cuts – as hospitals and nursing homes close, emergency rooms become more crowded, and the price of health care goes up.
Nationally we need to get three Republican Congressional Members to vote NO on any cuts to Medicaid to stop the bill from passing. In California we have 4 districts we’re targeting:

In just his first three months in office, Congressman George Whitesides has:
- Introduced his first standalone bill, the Chiquita Canyon Tax Relief Act, to ensure that residents in Val Verde, Castaic, and the Santa Clarita Valley are not unfairly taxed on the much-needed assistance they receive from the Chiquita Canyon Landfill.
- Stood against outrageous cuts to programs like Medicaid and Social Security, which would harm hundreds of thousands of Rep. Whitesides’ constituents, and millions of Americans across the country.
- Opposed a deeply harmful budget bill that could rip $25 million away from California’s 27th District, including from law enforcement agencies and critical infrastructure projects.
- Cosponsored the introduction of the PRO Act, protecting workers’ rights, and led multiple letters to the administration defending union employees and federal workers.
- Became a national leader on our wildfire crisis and potential solutions, becoming a key public voice during the LA firestorms.
- Joined pragmatic caucuses working to advance important legislation, including the Military Veterans Caucus, the Bipartisan Wildfire Caucus, the Reproductive Freedom Caucus, and the New Democratic Coalition.
