CADEM Announces the Endorsement of Mia Bonta for California State Assembly District 18

Assembly District 18 includes Alameda, San Leandro and much of Oakland

ALAMEDA, CA – The California Democratic Party (CADEM), the nation’s largest state Democratic Party representing over 10 million Democrats, today announced the endorsement of Mia Bonta for Assembly District – 18 (AD-18). Mia received 71 percent of the votes from CADEM’s Endorsing Caucus which is made up of the 2019 – 2021 Democratic State Central Committee.

“The California Democratic Party is proud to endorse Mia Bonta for Assembly District 18,” said Rusty Hicks, Chair of CADEM. “As a daughter of Puerto Rican activists, Mia knows firsthand what it takes to make equitable progress within our communities. From her drive to advance economic mobility among our most underserved communities to her lifelong dedication towards improving educational outcomes for low-income students – Mia is the leader we need in the California State Legislature.”

“I am honored to have earned the California Democratic Party’s endorsement,” said Mia Bonta. “I have called the East Bay home for 22 years and have been a proud and active progressive Democrat during that time. As a party, we have accomplished so much that people said was impossible, even in deep blue Alameda County. As the next Assembly member, I look forward to working with the California Democratic Party to run a positive campaign and am committed to being a fearless champion for this community in Sacramento.”

The special runoff election to fill AD-18 will take place on August 31, 2021. For more information, please visit https://cadem.org/vote/endorsements/.
