SACRAMENTO, CA — Today the California Democratic Party (CADEM) announced expanded voter protection efforts across the state leading up to the Special Election on November 4, 2025 to ensure voters have access to trusted information, legal support, and on-the-ground assistance from trained volunteers at every step of the voting process.
Since 1992, the California Democratic Party’s Voter Protection Team has worked to ensure that every eligible Californian can cast their ballot freely and fairly.
“California Democrats are committed to ensuring every voter can exercise their fundamental right to vote,” said Rusty Hicks, Chair of the California Democratic Party. “As Republicans across the country work to restrict access to the ballot box, CADEM is redoubling our efforts to protect voters and ensure every ballot is counted.”
CADEM’s Voter Protection Program Includes:
1. Voter Protection Hotline
Californians can call 1-877-321-VOTE (8683) with questions or to report an issue. The hotline connects voters with trained volunteers and attorneys who can help resolve problems in real time.
Hotline Hours:
• Today – October 31: Monday–Friday, 9AM–6PM
• November 1–2: Saturday & Sunday, 9AM–6PM
• November 3: Monday, 8:30AM–6PM
• Election Day (November 4): 6:30AM–8PM (until polls close)
2. Legal Team
A network of volunteer attorneys across California provides rapid legal support for serious legal issues involving ballots and polling place procedures.
3. Poll Observers
CADEM’s trained poll observers will be stationed at polling places statewide to ensure all operations follow state and federal law. Observers are tasked with identifying and reporting any irregularities that could interfere with voters’ rights.
