SACRAMENTO, CA – Today, following the certification of the June 2 Primary Election, the California Democratic Party (CADEM) announced the following Statewide, Congressional and State Senate & Assembly candidate endorsements:

- Eleni Kounalakis for Treasurer
- Richard Barrera for Superintendent of Public Instruction
- Tom Umberg for Board of Equalization District 4
- Ami Bera for Congressional District 3
- Dr. Richard Pan for Congressional District 6
- Sandra Van Scotter for Congressional District 20
- Randy Villegas for Congressional District 22
- Marni von Wilpert for Congressional District 48
- Sean Frame for California State Senate District 6
- Scott Sakakihara for California State Senate District 10
- Dianna James for California State Assembly District 1
- Dr. Ida Obeso-Martinez for California State Assembly District 36
- Leila Namvar for California State Assembly District 47
- Mark Pulido for California State Assembly District 67
“Once again, California is leading the charge to take back the House and put an end to the Trump-Republican agenda of chaos and cruelty,” said CADEM Chair Rusty Hicks. “We’re proud to endorse these strong Democrats who will stand up for California’s values, fight for working families, defend our democracy and create an economy that works for all, not just the wealthy and well-connected.”
Because of California Democrats’ hard-won victory passing Proposition 50 last year, the House majority is back within reach–and the path to taking it back runs through California. Prop 50 strengthened Democratic incumbents in several battleground districts, helping protect seats that Republicans had targeted.
In the Central Valley’s 22nd battleground Congressional District, Democrat Randy Villegas advanced to face Republican David Valadao in a district redrawn under Prop 50. In California’s 48th Congressional District, Democrat Marni von Wilpert is now positioned to compete for a seat opened by Darrell Issa’s retirement, creating yet another crucial opportunity to flip the seat blue, and made possible by the new congressional maps. In California’s 6th Congressional District, Democrat Dr. Richard Pan successfully advanced to the General Election–yet another example of Democrats remaining competitive in a district redrawn under Prop 50.
From competitive congressional districts across the state that will determine control of the House to statewide office and State Legislature races that will shape our state’s future, California Democrats are organizing year-round to elect candidates who reflect our values.
