Statement of California Democratic Party on the Adoption of the 2024 Delegate Selection Plan

VISALIA, CA – The California Democratic Party (CADEM), the nation’s largest state Democratic Party representing more than 10 million Democrats, today adopted the 2024 Selection Plan on Sunday, August 20, at the Executive Board meeting in Visalia, California.

The California Democratic Party will send 496 delegates and 35 alternates to the Democratic National Convention scheduled for the week of August 19-22 of 2024, in Chicago, Illinois. With the adoption of the Delegate Selection Plan, California Democrats will once again have the largest and most diverse delegations at the Democratic National Convention.

California Democrats will choose district-level delegates and alternates at a post- primary caucus on April 21, 2024. After the California Presidential Primary on March 5, 2024, delegates will be allocated to reflect the expressed Democratic presidential preference of the primary voters in each congressional district.

All California voters registered as Democrats are eligible to be considered as delegates.
